Dynamic Passenger Infotainment Impresses Commuters
Dynamic passenger information coupled with infotainment is a highly welcome service for bus and train passengers and is becoming a widely accepted and standardized piece of equipment in public transportation worldwide. Following the successful integration in the New York buses, VIANOVA Technologies GmbH was commissioned to install the first pilot DPI (Dynamic Passenger Information) and Infotainment (Entertainment) systems in Chicago.
Dynamic Passenger Info. Live in New York
Dynamic passenger information installed in a huge fleet comprising 5,710 buses, serving 16,350 bus stops and in which every bus can be used on all 325 routes is a huge requirement for any system. If special announcements as well as Public Transport Authority (PTA) marketing information or commercials of any media partner are to be presented in real-time and yet separate to the passenger information, then only a few of the infotainment systems available worldwide are able to compete with the VIANOVA Technologies solution!
Infotainment – Made in Germany
For more than 100 years, “Made in Germany” has been regarded as the seal of approval when it comes to the quality and longevity of a product. The VIANOVA infotainment systems are assembled using components predominantly manufactured in Germany, exemplifying this label with quality forming the basis for VIANOVA’s successes abroad. Dynamic passenger information and entertainment systems aboard the PTO fleet of tracked vehicles and buses have to be not only robust but also durable.
Audio - Visual Dynamic Passenger Information
VIANOVA display systems for dynamic passenger information are now available with an automated speech output feature. By working together with public transport authorities at home and abroad, essential hardware and software components of the MS-700 infotainment system have been extended to enable a significant increase the availability of information to the “On Board” passenger. As a result, lead times and the infotainment system costs could be simultaneously shortened and optimized.
Dynamic Passenger Information in New York
Starting with the very busy buses operating in Manhattan and Queens, the „New York City Transit Authority“ (NYCTA) is upgrading its vehicle fleet by installing superlative quality, highly reliable dynamic passenger information and entertainment systems from VIANOVA Technologies. This initial package includes tried-and-tested ceiling-mounted dual display units and dedicated software.
APIX-Data Highway for Trains and Buses
Within the space of just a few years, the APIX (Automotive-Pixel-Link) Gigabit data highway has set new video transfer standards in the automobile industry. To date, more than 50 million implemented connections speak for themselves. VIANOVA Technologies uses the performance capacity and robustness of APIX as the core component for video transmission in trains and buses and, accordingly, offers modular infotainment systems for universal use to Public Transport Authorities (PTAs).
Screen Stars
Onboard infotainment systems on MTA subways, trams and buses really began to grow in popularity around the turn of the century.
